Why PTA?

By joining the PTA, you help us meet our school's needs that are outside the scope of their budget. You also get great discounts, locally and nationally. When you go a step further and volunteer to help with events—or join our board— you set a fine example for our students to follow, and greatly encourage our teachers and staff.

 

IF I JOIN, DO I HAVE TO?

Go to meetings?
No. You are welcome to attend our general meetings though.

 

Volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?
Nope! Joining the PTA is not the same as volunteering. If you choose to volunteer we would LOVE the help—but volunteering is not required.

 

What does being a PTA member mean?

  • Being a PTA Member means you are investing in Rocky Mount Elementary. You understand how important the programs are that our PTA Funds for your children, the teachers, and the school.
  • Being a PTA Member means you have a vote at general assembly meetings.
  • Being a PTA Member means you are helping to support legislation and advocacy of children in our country, including your children.
  • Being a PTA Member means you can volunteer to head a committee, be on the Board of Directors, serve on the Executive Board, make changes at Rocky Mount, help to plan what you want to see happen at our school.

  • Hospitality- welcome back luncheon for staff, box lunches for staff at sneak a peek, new families brunch, room parent brunch, Popsicle party at class roster day, pizza party for box tops winners, thanksgiving feast decorations, hearing and vision screening lunches
  • Teacher Appreciation Week- luncheon for all staff and small gifts
  • Teacher Fontis Water in the staff lounge
  • Teacher Gift Contribution Fund- will cover the cost of a birthday gift, holiday gift, and end of the year gift.
  • PTA Operations- including Admin Supplies, Banking Costs, Bookkeeping/Audit/Tax Prep/ Accountant, Insurance, Officer Training, Incorporation Fees, PTA East Cobb County Council Dues
  • Homeroom Activity Fees cover the winter classroom parties- we cover every child even if no Homeroom Activity Fee has been paid
